How to Pass NEBOSH IG2 Course Exam

  • Choose a workplace to use in your report.
  • There are four parts in the report, be alert on the parts 1, 2 and 3 for word count.
  • In part 1, provide clearly with the name of the organization, location, number of workers, an outline of the organization’s work, scope of risk assessment and any responsible person for day-to-day health and safety activities.
  • You will then have to mention the sources you had referred to identify the hazards, risk, and the methods you used to come up with the control measures.
  • In Part 2 risk assessment, always put the most relevant hazards to your industry in the beginning and make sure you have not forgotten it.
  • And most important tip is that always follow the hazard category mentioned in the guidance and do not create your own hazard categories.
  • Minimum mention 10 different hazards from 5 different hazard categories. Which means on average only mention two hazards per hazard category.
  • In part 3 choose the top 3 control measures, now for this I would suggest you look at the risk rating of existing controls in part 2. See which hazard has high probability and high consequence, so that it will make a big impact on the management system.
  • Now when discussing the legal reasons, always follow ILO conventions and recommendations. Please note that you can mention country specific regulations, but it will not be marked.
  • Clearly explain the likelihood and severity for each section (if you had followed the tip number 8 this section now becomes easier).
  • In part 4, mention the realistic review date for the risk assessment. Use the examples for verbal, written and graphical communication to mention the communication methods to convey the assessments to all officials of the organization as well as the follow up measure.
  • Finally, re-check all the word counts before submission.
